The cream of the downtown art scene crop were out in full effect last Monday night at "The Downtown Show: The New York Art Scene 1974-1984." The gargantuan exhibit, curated by PAPER senior editor Carlo McCormick, featured over 300 pieces by luminaries such as (but not limited to) Keith Haring, Karen Finley, Eric Bogosian, Basquiat and Robert Longo. To celebrate the opening and shed a few tears for the 1974 Loft Law, Julian Schnabel, Glenn O'Brien, Thurston Moore and Maripol stopped by. Following the exhibit was an after-party at Lit Lounge where attendees were treated to a rare performance by '80s no wave legends the Bush Tetras. Also, not to be forgotten is the marathon DJ session by Downtown music mavens Christian Marclay, Lee Renaldo and Fred Schneider. The guests shook their booties on the dance floor and drank Amstel Light late into the night.
