Tevas look good on the hiking trail, but they were also a hit at New York Fashion Week. Buzzy designers like AREA, Jonathan Cohen, Sandy Liang, Collina Strada and Gypsy Sport all used Teva footwear in their runway shows, continuing the cursed "ugly sandal" trend that's become ubiquitous in the high fashion world via brands like Crocs and Birkenstocks.
The most notable Teva trend at NYFW was a new Anna Sui collaboration. Sui's versions of the practical sandals mark the second time she and Teva have teamed up. (Sui herself has been wearing Tevas for years.) This season's iterations come in two styles — a Flatform Universal and an Ember Mid — and utilize a dainty floral print from Liberty London.

Meanwhile, designer Claudia Li took Teva's classic Indio Jewel style and customized it with embellishments that matched the beaded details on the ready-to-wear. Unlike Sui's collab, these styles will not be for sale. But you could try a DIY?
Teva are naturally thrilled to get some recognition from fashion's elite. "We get so excited when NYFW comes along," Erika Gabrielli, Teva's senior director of global brand marketing, tells PAPER. "It's thrilling to see how they push the limits in terms of design and think outside the box."

The final product is usually an elevated, slightly more refined take on the casual momcore style the Teva brand is known for, thanks to the designers experimenting with new materials and colors. (Pairing them with socks continues to be the look, it seems.)
