Scenes from the Purple Party and Chez Andre at Top of the Standard

Last night, the hot fashion week ticket was The Standard Hotel, which played host to two of the week's most anticipated parties: the Purple Party at the Boom Boom Room (which this year joined forces with Proenza Schouler's after-party) and karaoke at Chez André across the hall at Le Bain. Per usual, outside the hotel was a mob scene, with models, celebrities and fashion week hangers-on clambering to get inside and up to the coveted 18th floor.

Once inside, guests were free to come-and-go between the two venues; the decidedly more laid-back Le Bain enticed brave (or just drunk) editors, publicists and designers to belt out karaoke with the backing of a live band while Top of the Standard (née Boom Boom Room) offered a buffet of people watching (so long as you didn't mind the occasional Miu Miu heel stepping on your toes). The celebrity quotient was high this year, with everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio and Lindsay Lohan to Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain(!) passing through. By 2 a.m., the human bottle necks had thinned out and everyone started letting loose -- table dancing, champagne spraying, and what passed for fashion peoples' attempts at twerking took place, capping another successful -- and sufficiently rowdy -- Purple party.
