Mr. Mickey and PAPERMAG were saddened to learn this morning that Disco Queen Donna Summer had died of cancer. She was 63. We've all shaken our booties to the musical magic of Miss Summer on tunes like "Last Dance," "On the Radio," "She Works Hard for the Money" and "Love to Love Ya Baby." Summer's collaboration with producer Giorgio Moroder gave her international fame and proved that a sexy young lady could basically moan along to a disco beat and create mayhem on dancefloors worldwide. Later, after becoming a born-again Christian, rumors swirled that Summer had condemned gays, the very community who had helped make her a legend. Still, long after any discord (alleged or otherwise) is forgotten, we'll all remember the music. Miss Donna could always get us dancing. She indeed worked hard for the money. RIP Donna Summer!
