Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth is making all our dreams come true with his new cotton-soft Adult Swim single, "Wait." Made with vocal spots from infamously introverted English folk singer Keaton Henson and PAPER lo-fi favorite Mitski, it's a pretty subdued, centered effort from a producer we're more accustomed to hearing a ton of warbly, marimba-y synths from -- but we're not mad about it.
Because for what it lacks in grandiose, arpeggiated vocal manipulations, it makes up for with its enhanced showcase of Hemsworth's careful attention to song structure and his skill at creating warm, atmospheric beats. It's obvious he let the track open up and breathe for the benefit of the two talented vocalists, and it's something we're extremely content to revel in. "I've been working on little ideas with Keaton for a while," Hemsworth explained. "But once I had the chance to get Mitski involved as well it made complete sense to me. They're easily two of my favorite singers so it was really inspiring to work on this one together."
