"PRADIDAS!" fans eagerly exclaimed on social media this week. On Thursday, both Adidas and Prada took to Instagram to announce a new collaboration of sorts, with the only hint being "coming soon."
The cryptic photo is a classic white Prada shopping bag with two shoe boxes of Adidas and Adidas Originals peeking out from the tote. Fans instantly speculated as to what such partnership will entail, as both brands are keeping exact details of #PradaForAdidas under wraps for now.
But today, a report in WWDrevealed that that long-term collaboration will begin with the release of two limited-edition Prada for Adidas styles, with the first shoe to be launched in December for both men and women. The styles will be available globally and be made by Prada in Italy.
In addition, Prada and Adidas confirmed the release of the new Luna Rossa performance sailing footwear, to be unveiled in 2020. The shoes are a reference to the Luna Rossa sailing team, first established in 1997 and where Prada participated in the America's Cup. "[It's] the perfect laboratory to test new materials and technology, and offers the ideal conditions to perfect the science of sailing," the brand said of the launch.
