Back 1920s Vienna, a photo studio based called Atelier Manassé was apparently the place to get a cute portrait done.

Owned by husband-wife duo Adorján von Wlássics and Olga Solarics, the studio was known for producing great, glow-tastic photos of film and cabaret stars, but also had a pretty interesting side hobby -- namely the production of surreal erotica. Olga in particular had a penchant for exploring the smuttier side of photography, all while incorporating influences from Surrealism, Expressionism and other art movements du jour -- some examples of which you can peep below.
