Twenty international directors were recruited to make short movies about romances set in each of Paris's 18 arrondissements (neighborhoods). The backdrop of that beautiful city acts as an inspiration for filmmakers to whip up cinematic soufflés that are heartwarming (Isabel Coixet), funny (Joel and Ethan Cohen), romantic (Tom Tykwer), strange (Christopher Doyle), mysterious (Gus Van Sant), supernatural (Wes Craven) and ironic (Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas). Alexander Payne's poignant segment about a tourist (Margo Martindale) wandering around the City of Lights and Gerard Depardieu's bittersweet bistro meeting between Gena Rowlands and Ben Gazarra are high points.
