Who are you?
A storyteller from Toronto, dedicating my life to mastering the art of storytelling.
What do you do?
I'm a director and an actress.
What are you most proud of from 2018?
Breaking the molds placed upon me as a young Black female filmmaker and challenging any false perceptions (through the telling of the stories and creative opportunities I was given). And further, being able to inspire the next young female to believe in herself to do the same. Some of the stories I had the privilege of telling this year include: Drake's "Nice For What," "God's Plan" and "In My Feelings," as well as SZA's "Garden."
What do you think will be your biggest challenge in 2019?
Switching from the world of music videos and commercials to the long-format language of film and TV. However, it is a challenge I've been waiting for and eager to face since I started out as a filmmaker, so I'm equally grateful and ready to be occupying a seat at the table.
What do you think will be your biggest opportunity in 2019?
Well, I can only hope for and try to manifest bigger and better opportunities to tell important stories and reach greater audiences... But it's God's Plan.
Where can we follow you?
As chosen by Justin Moran, Claire Valentine, Michael Love Michael, Kat Gillespie, and Jael Goldfine
