Dragonfly is one of Mumbai's most exclusive clubs and it can be tough to get in without your name on a list. The VIP area, usually brimming with actors and celebrities sipping rare-aged whiskey and imported wine, has its own bar and is decked out with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the street below. Nights typically start with low-key jazz before moving into pumping tech, and resident DJ, Ruskin, has over a decade of experience. Located on the waterfront, Vie opens up on to the beach and is very much the place to see and be seen in Mumbai. DJs plays great electro and house music and there's a see-through dance floor to the sand on the beach. At Voodoo, the most famous gay nightclub in Mumbai, what you see is what you get. There are no pretensions and no facades. Since homosexuality is illegal in India, it's difficult for gay people to go around town hand-in-hand. Here, there are no restrictions for gays to openly mingle, and though there are a few bouncers at the door, they're just for show. Once you're inside, the place is all yours. The club is best on Fridays and Saturdays, when they play hip-hop and R&B and guys make out on the dance floor. The hippest hangout in trendy north Mumbai, Olive Bar and Kitchen is popular with models and Bollywood stars. There's L.A.-style valet parking at the entrance, where hanging vines and creepers tumble over the whitewashed walls -- it's more the Ivy than India. There's a pebbledash garden with low tables and chairs outside, and a Mediterranean-style restaurant and sunken bar inside where the rest of the glamor set gather. Red Light is one of the few clubs in Mumbai that's packed almost every night. If you like hip-hop and the latest top 40, this is your spot. The owners of the brilliant Vakzuid Bar in Amsterdam are co-owners of this gem in Mumbai's happening Bandra. It's a sumptuous glass-paned lounge, bar and restaurant, with a dance floor that's usually packed with hordes of leggy bombshells, including local models, actresses and T.V stars. Located in a sprawling old warehouse, blueFrog includes a club, restaurant, lounge, recording studio, sound stage and sound lab. Black resin surfaces, neon lights, and round booths with tables called "pods" lend a space-age feel. The most appealing aspect of blueFrog? Its eclectic music. On Fridays and Saturdays it transforms itself into a club with live DJs, while other nights it takes on a more traditional and laid back vibe with live bands and solo performances. One of the most popular mega-clubs in Mumbai, Poision is 10,000 square-feet of clubbing bliss.
