It's a sad day for subway riders in all five boroughs, as famed subterranean ad staple Dr. Jonathan Zizmor has officially retired and closed down his Manhattan office.
Known for the kitschy, rainbow-filled banners advertising his dermatology practice, he's been an MTA fixture since the early 80s thanks to the very few aesthetic updates he's made since the adverts first started running. Or maybe, as
Zizmor himself once theorized, it's classical conditioning, seeing as how people "see my face all the time."
Either way, farewell, Dr. Z -- your own Photoshopped filter facelift will be sorely missed.
