Noah Baumbach and Ben Stiller Do Mr. Popper's Penguins?

Elizabeth Thompson

Here's some good news for your Friday. Writer, director and tweed blazer pinup Noah Baumbach is apparently in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct Ben Stiller in an adaptation of the 1938 children's book Mr. Popper's Penguins. Baumbach and Stiller worked most recently together on Greenberg, which makes us wonder if Stiller's Mr. Popper will be a self-loathing, 40-something coming to terms with adulthood, but Baumbach has proved himself an apt adapter of children's classics from his experience co-writing The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Oh cuss, we hope this movie gets made!
