If you've got a thing for avant-garde fashion design and want to participate in Fashion's Night Out without the crowds and chaos, you should check out the La Cambre-Mode[s] & Brussels Fashion Favorites exhibit that opens the evening of September 10. La Cambre is a renowned school of visual arts, fashion design and architecture in Brussels, and the fashion department will showcase the works of a hand-picked group of designers that it believes will be the next wave of talent to come out of Germany. This celebration of Brussels fashion will also feature designs from established talents on the scene, and the seven participants were chosen by a prestigious jury consisting of professionals in the world of fashion (past and present judges include Agnes B, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and John Galliano). The school counts gifted designers Olivier Theyskens -- previously of Rochas and Nina Ricci -- and Charles Anastase as alumni, who both plan to be in New York City for Fashion Week this season. The designers featured this year include Cathy Pill, a favorite of Beth Ditto, and Carine Gilson, who launched a critically acclaimed haute-couture lingerie label in 1994 .

The La Cambre-Mode[s] and Fashion Favorites exhibition will be held at 201 Mulberry Street (between Spring and Kenmare) from September 10 (6 PM - 11PM) through September 12.
