Kids From My Travels: Brooklyn Boys David, Sean & Barnaby

Jeffrey Kilmer

NAME: David Flinn
AGE: 22
OCCUPATION: Artist, represented by Envoy Enterprises, NYC
HOMETOWN: New York City, born and bred.
SHOT IN: Brooklyn
FAVORITE NYC HANG SPOT: Max Fish, the best place on earth.

NAME: Sean
AGE: I'm in my 20s. I feel that I am at the ripe age where I should own a home, have a career, and be married -- but unfortunately my position in life is the exact opposite. I know age is just a number and it is all about how you feel, but right now I feel like an 75-year-old trapped in a 20-something-year-old body because I'm content with watching daytime TV and drinking apple juice all day.
OCCUPATION: The past four years of my life have been quite turbulent. I've worked a variety of jobs ranging from mailboy to bartender to a tour manager. I spend most of my year managing projects for a variety of non-profit organizations through a marketing company who I've been employed by for four years now.
HOMETOWN: A pet peeve question of mine. A lot of people ask this question and they base your hometown as what defines you. I've lived in New York City for over 10 years now so that is what I consider my hometown and what has shaped me and made me the man I am today. Home is where the heart is and I can't find myself living anywhere else.
SHOT IN: Brooklyn
FAVORITE NYC HANG SPOT: My favorite place in New York City is definitely the Mulberry Street Library off of Houston. The library is my favorite place, not just in New York City, but in the world. I find myself at the library 3 to 4 times a week. I spend a lot of my time sketching designs for tattoos there or picking up reserved media. A lot of people don't take advantage of the New York Public Library. The Mulberry Street location is the nicest and most aesthetically pleasing public library in the city; most of the New York Public Library locations have a grimy, unfriendly feeling.

NAME: Barnaby Whitfield
AGE: Depends on who I wake up with.
OCCUPATION: Artist, Stux Gallery
HOMETOWN: Born and raised in Miami. Moved to the East Village at 17, and after a few hellish years in Jersey City (and many others in between) just moved back there again.
SHOT IN: Brooklyn
FAVORITE NYC HANG SPOT: I lost my iPhone three times in three weeks so now I just drink at home... until I bore the shit out of myself and stumble with the landlord down to teneleven to hear and drink Kimberly's mixes. One Thursday a month I pretend to host the artist's after-party for Stux at Nowhere, but really we're just crashing the place. It's the best way to get the most fucked up mix of people. That was the great thing about the bar scene as a teen in Miami. It was such a small scene and it was always an everything goes event. And less often than I'd like, I end up at B Side for my favorite feral pony Emilyn Brodsky. If I am the last man standing, the night ends in sweet kisses.
