Plucked out of obscurity, Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams joined the late-night series nearly four years ago, and now the budding, young comedienne will be bidding farewell to her TV family.
This Thursday, Jessica Williams will make her last appearance on The Daily Show. "I feel so many emotions," Williams told Entertainment Weekly exclusively in an interview. "I feel like I'm growing up and graduating."
Jessica Williams signed a development deal with Comedy Central in March. The development deal is for a half-hour comedy series Jessica WIlliams will be writing, producing and starring in. The premise, in Jessica's own words, "It's a show about someone in their 20s who has all these social ideas but still, like, does not have it together."
Her co-star Trevor Noah is disappointed by the news, writing in an email, "The sadness I have for Jessica leaving is only eclipsed by the joy I have for her starting her new show." Trevor threw in a reference to her hit podcast, 2 Dope Queens-- which she hosts with Phoebe Robinson-- adding, "If her podcast is anything to go by, it's going to be an exciting show!"
"It really is such a warm, wonderful place to be," Jessica Williams told EW. "They're just like a family." :( :( There, there.
