Janelle Monáe Just Blessed Us with Two Stunning Videos

By Hilton Dresden

Janelle Monáe just transformed this Thursday from dreariness into godliness by descending upon us with not one, but two suprise new music videos, for her songs "Make Me Feel" and "Django Jane." Both are very different and both are the new anthems of 2018.

"Make Me Feel" is a gorgeous, technicolor, high-fashion homage to Prince, complete with a love triangle between Monáe, Tessa Thompson, and an Unidentified Hot Man. There's also a glittering bodysuit and dangling face beads, San Junipero-style retro courtship, and lines of dancers that remind us of the crucial choreo of "Formation."

Oh, and it's just a really good song. Take a look:

"Django Jane" takes a more political approach to iconic filmmaking —the song sees Monáe rapping about feminism, Black Girl Magic, and rising to glory. The video is just as potent as its counterpart, with notable moments including Monáe spitting verses from the reflection of a vagina mirror and seating herself at the head of a glorious feast. Monáe's third studio album, Dirty Computer, will drop April 27.
