We spent an afternoon hanging out with rising model, actress and animal rights activist Ireland Baldwin who shared her thoughts on the fashion industry, her famous parents and whether she thinks of her self as a budding LGBTQ role model. Take a look at photos from our shoot and read our interview, below.

What is your favorite part about working in fashion? When did you first become passionate about modeling?

I have to say the best part of working in fashion is well...the fashion and the art itself. Seeing what goes into it all, piece by piece. I became passionate towards the projects I got to be a part of after I was surrounded by artists and passionate people. I have had so many incredible opportunities to work with legends that I have admired since I was a little girl so that is collectively the best part.

What is your favorite form of social media and what are your handles?

I would probably say Instagram is my favorite. I am definitely more of a visual person. I don't really care for Twitter as much but sometimes I go on ranting silly on there.

Can you share information about your upcoming creative projects?

I have been focusing on acting more and more and trying to slowly transition into that world. I still love modeling and have been shooting a lot of high-end editorials with top notch photographers lately. I'm trying to sort of re-brand myself and not be a cookie cutter model. I have been working on a couple of other personal projects on the side as well, which I'm excited to get out there.

What's the best advice you've received about the fashion industry? Who gave this advice to you?

I sort of learned this on my own but I learned that you can't really just sit around and wait for somebody to notice you. You've gotta grab people's attention. You can be stagnant. You have to make people want to know more about you.

Who is your style icon?

Stevie Nicks. David Bowie. Courtney Love.

What are your favorite fashion brands/designers?

It changes. I always love Versace. I love Givenchy. I think Riccardo is pretty genius. I love clean fashion.

What do you like to do in your down time? What are your favorite hobbies?

I read and write. I write scripts and film shorts. I get to play with different cameras, which is fun. I play with my dogs for hours. I like to stay outside mostly.

Speaking of dogs, you describe yourself as an animal lover on Instagram. As a model, what are your thoughts on the fur industry?

It's hard being somewhat part of the fashion industry and having a disdain for fur. I think it's absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking. I mean, I have worn brands and admired brands that have pieces that use leather and fur and I'm not proud of it. If I could wear 100% vegan all the time, I would.

What is your favorite tattoo?

My Bowie portrait.

What do you love most about living in LA?

Nothing. I live outside of LA so I stay out of the chaos. I don't like being in a big city for long. LA is pretty nice though. The traffic is shit but there are so many places to go.

You recently posted to Instagram the words "Daddy Issues" in the Star Wars font. Do you think you have them?

Eh no. I grew out of them. My dad is a pretty incredible human.

What's your idea of a perfect date?

Hmmmm well... wine. Food. Movie. Dogs.

Do you see yourself as an LGBTQ role model?

I wouldn't say I'm trying to be anyone's role model. I just support people who are true to themselves and aren't afraid to openly be who there are and support others who are doing the same.
