These Halloween Masks Are Inspired by a Fetish Meat Market

"Blade runner in the medieval era" is how Puerto Rican designer Grisel Lopez describes Possessed, their line of fetishwear that caters to LGBTQIA, sex workers, the BDSM world, punks, and nightlife superstars. With Halloween right around the corner, the brand has seen an uptick in demand for their fetish gear, including their new leather and PVC masks that were created using upcycled materials.

Possessed has shown during NYFW for the past couple of seasons, including its most recent collection for Fall 2020 titled "Meat Market." The presentation consisted of 10 leather looks and was inspired by the punk lifestyle of their collaborators from Japan, as well as their "Eat Meat" slogan.

Nightlife personality Kayvon Zand and the band Nikushoku Partizan were among those who participated in the show, helping create a fetish "Meat Market" consisting of meat-inspired creatures wearing heavy leather fetish garments.

According to Lopez, all of their designs are made in New York City by a queer team using materials like leather, PVC, and other hardware. "Most of our business comes from word of mouth and our online shop," they said. Possessed is also found at local punk and BDSM shops such as Search and Destroy, Trash and Vaudeville, Gothic Renaissance and Purple Passion. "Our goal in the nearest future is to create more complete ready-to-wear garments and expand internationally."
