So apparently my radar is a wee bit off lately because I'm only just NOW finding out about the Brooklyn based duo, Great Lakes, when in fact they've been a band for a decade. But better late than never! Their third full length, "Diamond Times," is a testement to the power and brevity of pop music. Full of sweeping melodies, romantic tendencies and melancholic occurances, "Diamond Times" is pretty much everything I could've asked for in an album. It's lovely and soft, but poppy at times as well with just a hint of twang. And for some reason when I listen to it I'm tempted to go to a large field of grass, take off my shoes and lie down - which, in my opinion, is not such a bad thing for music to encourage. Stream four of their songs on their myspace page right now!
