Ever wanted to be a part of an internationally-recognized museum's collection? To see your Fall Out Boy-era emo bangs next to Debbie Harry's in a "Best Of" book? Well now your dream's one step closer to coming true, as The Smithsonian is collecting photos from the general public for a showcase of "the greatest moments in the history of rock 'n' roll."
Timed with the launch of their new interactive site
rockandroll.si.edu, it's a new way of curating a more comprehensive exhibit that will feature everything from these fan shots to contributions from artists, professional photographers and more. Each month, the museum will also be inviting special guests à la The Flaming Lips who will highlight the best entries, and ultimately help vet entries for a book by Bill Bentley documenting everything from punk to pop-punk.
