The fashion week parties are slowly gearing up. Stopped into Barneys last night where there was a small reception at FREDS on the ninth floor for the Ecco Domani award winners. I have been on the Ecco Domani committee for five years now with my friends Julie Gilhart (Barneys), Sally Singer (Vogue), Mary Lou Luther (The Fashion Group) and Ruth Finley (The Fashion Calendar). Every year we look through hundreds of applicants for those fabulous five young designers who we award $25,000 each to help them create a collection and a show. Past winners have included everyone from Zac Posen to Asfour to Proenza Schouler. Anyway, this year, we gave $ to Vena Cava, Bryan Reyes, VPL (Visible Panty Line), Hanuk (who I adore...his dresses all look like chic potato sacks!@) and Rodarte (those California girls who are making beautiful dresses). As I was entering Barneys, I couldnt help but notice the outrageous window celebrating Carine Roitfeld (the fabulous, smart chic editor of French Vogue who we adore). It was a hilarious window showing the cashmere sweater she designed this year for Lutz and Patmos (who choose a nondesigner every year to design a piece!). The mannequin was wearing a Carine mask of course and the skirt worn with the sweater was made of a thousand faces of Carine. (see photo!)
Then I zipped down to Capitale where Miss Sixty was showing featuring the insane Asia Argento on the runway, followed by a dinner and party where Kelis performed.
