UK citizens Matt and Adele Allen practice "free-range" parenting of their two young children, aka rejecting modern medicine (no vaccinations), traditional education while encouraging long-term breastfeeding.
In an interview with Barcroft TV, the Allens describe their methods, with Adele still breastfeedng her oldest, 5-year-old Ulysses, as well as her one-year-old daughter, Ostara.
People always say, 'When the milk teeth come through, you should stop breastfeeding. But I really think all it comes down to is the mother and the child; it should be a mutual decision between the both of them. It's just as natural as a hug.
They also sleep in the same room as their children in their Brighton, UK flat, discourage bedtimes, and encourage their kids to be barefoot at all times.
Adele gave birth to her children using "lotus birthing," which is when you allow the placenta and umbilical cord to detach, naturally, and without any external force.
Now, the Allens are seeking to move to a completely self-contained, isolated environment in Costa Rica, and are calling on the public to help them achieve their dream of self-sufficiency...to the sum of ￡100,000 (around $111,000.)
The family has posted a page on Fund My Travel, explaining their decision to go majorly off the grid.
Our ultimate goal is to become self - sufficient, the way of making that happen is by moving to Costa Rica and buying a big plot of land where we can grow food, and have access to wildlife and nature in it's natural state.
That's where we need YOUR help, we would love if you could donate any amount and help us achieve our dreams.
We want to share our knowledge of off-grid parenting and expand on our experience by fully immersing ourselves in a natural environment where we can become more self-sufficient.
We are inspired by the raw food family to create a business, home and lifestyle which can show people that they don't have to comply to the constraints of 'the system'. The money raised will fund our travel and cost of land and self-build home abroad. I am writing a book 'the unconventional parent' and on publication plan to give away a free electronic copy to every https://theunconventionalparent.com
Many thanks, the Unconventional parents X
The donations started July 19, and will be open until November 18th, 2016; so far, the Allens have received ￡245 (1%) of their 100k goal.
I'll try to donate when I don't have to wait 2 weeks to pay my rent, Allens!
