Five Cute Things at the {New New}'s Spring Handmade Cavalcade

Elizabeth Thompson

Did you see the Empire State Building last night? The top was ablaze with green lights in honor of Earth Day -- a puzzling tribute, but we suppose it's the thought that counts. Thankfully Etsy seems to have a firmer grasp on what constitutes eco-consciousness and tomorrow more than 25 designers from the {New New}, a collective of Etsy merchants, will be in Williamsburg's Berry park to sell locally produced, greenly made goods. We asked organizer Karin Persan for five recommendations on items to pick up and her suggestions are in the above collage. Clockwise from top: An adorable children's plush toy ($19) from Windows of Agate; hats and, ahem, "belt bags," ($64) from millinery Rocks and Salt; chocolate ($7) from Fine & Raw; paper goods from M. Shoelace (their "Dogs and Meats" cards are $15 for a six-pack), and summery dressers from Better than Jam (Persan is the designer, so this is a partial suggestion). The sale goes from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. and more information can be found here.
