"Ed Wood's Sleaze Paperbacks" at BooHooray: A Sneak Preview

Though Ed Wood might best be known for his work directing some of Hollywood's trashiest B-movie gems including Plan 9 From Outer Space, Jail Bait and Glen or Glenda, he also wrote tons of pulp novels. Like many sleaze authors at the time, he often wrote under pseudonyms, and amassing Woods' books into a solid collection has so far been difficult for historians and pulp collectors. Boo-Hooray gallery, however, has tracked down 70 of his books via curators Michael Daley and Johan Kugelberg, who have sold the collection to the Cornell's rare books library, where it will become a part of their human sexuality archive. Starting tomorrow through December 1, however, you can see these books at Boo-Hooray. The exhibit will be open everyday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. November 2nd though December 1st and there's an opening party tomorrow night from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m (RSVP here). In the meantime, check out a handful of these novels in the gallery above.

An illustrated and annotated exhibition catalogues are available for purchase here.
