Dunhill's Home Away from Home

Luigi Tadini
Classic upscale Brit brand, Alfred Dunhill, made its New York Fashion Week debut last night with the unveiling of an impressive pop-up-store-slash-art-installation on West 13th Street. The project, designed by London based luxury consultancy company Campaign, recreates three distinct environments of the Dunhill's famed Mayfair headquarters, Bourdon House, with mind-bending technology. The archive, façade and gardens of the famed London address are reproduced in laser-cut coated aluminum panels that appear to be floating over the dark rubber floors, an illusion that is suggestive, beautiful and straight-up uncanny at once. The week-long display showcases Dunhill creative director Kim Jones's celebrated fall collection and stands as a momentary manifestation of Dunhill's indisputable presence in New York. A handful of posh limited edition pieces were created for the occasion including a Mongolian cashmere beanie hat and a handcrafted leather document holder both available for sale until February 18th.
