Fashion never takes vacation (that's why we can never keep up!), and for fashion-heads, summer means resort-wear time. Willow, a fashion line from Down Under, which debuted at Australian Fashion Week in 2003, is designed by the Sydney-based Kit Willow. Last week, at the chic Chelsea eatery Bette, Willow showed her resort collection for 2007, titled "Butterfly Kiss." In attendance were fashion editors decked out in sun dresses and espadrilles, accented with YSL Muse bags, along with Bette owner Amy Sacco and Dawson's Creek geek turned Hollywood starlet Michelle Williams. A very pregnant Willow had flown in from Australia just the day before, and was glowing in a crisp satin white dress designed by her, of course.
The collection had a touch of Chloes no-fuss romanticism, as exhibited in its shapes and details. Some of the sexier Azzedine Alaia-esque cuts exuded a toned-down va-va-va-voom effect. Brown, mauve, moss, beige and some black made up the pleasantly earthy color palette -- a bit too somber, though, for the yacht-set ladies. Willow's pairing of natural fabrics with feminine silhouettes is ideal for the busy girl on the run looking to make a smooth office to cocktail transition. The modest collection was coy and charming in all the right places.
