Is reggaeton over? The music trend - -a hybrid of dancehall reggae and hip-hop -- started in Panama/Puerto Rico and spread north rapidly before finally going global with the 2004 hit single "Gasolina" by Daddy Yankee. Last week, however, local Miami radio station WRTO abruptly dropped their reggaeton format and switched to salsa music. According to Tom Taylor, editor of trade publication Inside Radio, the reggaeton format may have limited legs. "People have been worried that it would burn out. It's got a relatively narrow artist base," he told the Miami Herald. Probably the best thing going for reggaeton is the fact that everybody over 21 hates it. That didn't stop rock or rap music.
