Do You Ping-Pong?

Luigi Tadini

I braved the rainy weather Thursday night to join 300 of New York’s coolest prepsters at the newly inaugurated SPiN, a table tennis social club on Park Avenue South. The evening -- a celebration of The Fred, the Mod-inspired polo shirt created by famed British designer Fred Perry -- was hosted by the exclusive networking website SPiN's Perry-inspired back room was filled to capacity as revelers enjoyed potent cocktails courtesy of St-Germain and upbeat remixes of indie rock tunes. The host committee consisted of a variety of NY’s young gents, including yours truly, all outfitted in the various different hues of the Fred shirt. More adventurous guests took their turns on the tables for impromptu ping-pong sets as onlookers cheered on. Between a cocktail and a match, I explored the impressive 13,000 square foot Todd Oldham-designed venue and mingled with some familiar faces. I spotted the always-elegant Dalia Oberlander and her beau William Heath, PAPER TV’s Pierce Jackson, Martin Marks, T.B.D.’s Jesse Warren, PR extraordinaire Daniel Motta, and film producer Dahlia Heyman. Ping-pong and cocktails, what else could you ask for?
