Did JPG's Hermés Collection Take A Cue From SNL?

Yesterday afternoon in Paris, Jean Paul Gaultier showed his final collection for the house of Hermés, after a seven-year stint as its creative director. The designer went out with a bang, showing a body-conscious, sexy silhouette -- we're talking leather harnesses, corsets and whips, people -- while staying true to the brand's equestrian heritage. One of the accessories in particular, though, got us thinking back to a recent sketch on Saturday Night Live, in which Trish, the Upper East Side's most fashionable lady-who-lunches, was lauded for having the tiniest hat in the city. Gaultier showed the label's iconic Birkin bags scaled down to never-before-seen proportions, with the littlest one hanging off of one of Hermés' signature leather cuffs. He even presented a miniature Birkin peeking out from the inside of a transparent crocodile-skin bag, reminding us of when Trish reveals an even smaller hat from underneath the one she's already sporting. When it comes to accessories, do you think this teeny-tiny trend has staying power? Check out the clip from Saturday Night Live below!
