Colton Haynes' Hospital Post Talks Mental Health, Addiction

Colton Haynes has been incredibly open about the ups-and-downs of his mental health journey, and his latest Instagram post is no exception.

Yesterday, the Teen Wolf star posted a throwback photo from his drug and alcohol-related hospitalization last year. Writing that he doesn't want to worry about "if I look hot or not on Instagram," Haynes took a moment to reflect on his progress.

"I don't want to skirt around the truth to please other people or to gain economic success. I have far more important things to say than what magazine I just shot for or what TV show I'm a part of (Although I'm very thankful I still get to do what I love)," he began, before declaring that he no longer wants "to project a curated life."

Revealing that he gets "immense joy" from the people who tell him his willingness to open up about "depression, anxiety, alcoholism, & addiction has helped them in some way," Haynes also said that he's no longer concerned about likes or the fact that he doesn't "look the same way I did when I was addicted to pills."

"I'm posting these photos to let y'all in on my truth," he continued. "I'm so grateful to be where I am now (a year after these photos were taken) but man these times were dark."

Haynes then left things on a positive note, writing to his followers "in the middle of the dark times" that it won't last forever — a sentiment cheered on in the comments by fellow celebs like Serena Williams and Lisa Rinna.
