Chanel Debuted Tweed Rompers at Their Paris Show

Chanel's evolution post-Lagerfeld under the watchful eye of Virginie Viard continues to take shape. So far, Viard has set about maintaining many of the brand's design signatures and codes that her predecessor championed each season. But with a few collections now under her belt, her vision for Chanel is slowly coming to fruition as one that's slightly more pared down, quieter, yet timeless.

After all, Viard is the first woman to helm the reins at Chanel since Coco herself. Even the elaborate sets that Lagerfeld masterminded are a bit more low key now, although they're still quite the production compared to other brands with less resources. For Spring 2020, rows of Parisian rooftops served as the backdrop for the runway, as models strutted past and hung out leisurely on a platform during the finale. And of course, a surprise prankster crashed the runway before Gigi Hadid put a stop to it. Here's everything you need to know about the collection.

Tweed Rompers

The classic tweed and boucle jacket gets turned into a cool romper in a strapless and blazer version.

Tiered Ruffles

Layers and tiers of feminine ruffles in gradient pattens and piping are seen in floor-length skirts and strapless cocktail dresses.

Cool Denim

Denim gets a feminine touch with strips of white ruffles applied on jean jackets with full sleeves.

Graphic Logos

One of the newest things Viard explored this season was playing with the Chanel logo by creating an abstract graphic pattern on dresses and jackets.

Metallic Shorts

Mini shorts have been a big trend in Paris, and Chanel's options come in slick metallic versions in pink and silver.
