Behold: Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box," the Director's Cut

by Max Kessler

In honor of Nirvana's In Utero turning 20 this September, the musical powers that be are releasing a box set featuring a whole host of never-before-seen Nirvana goodies. One of those is the director's cut of the "Heart Shaped Box" video, which was released yesterday evening. The clip is still very weird and involves the same cast of characters (a man in a diaper and a Santa hat hanging on a cross; an obese, skinless angel; a girl in a white robe) but things start to deviate from the original just after the three minute mark, when Kurt Cobain has a "Wizard of Oz sleeping in a field of poppies" moment and the skinless angel and girl in the white robe return. Watch above.
