Antonio Azzuolo's a.a. Collection

To re-tweet a tweet I already twaught, it was all about shorts and suits chic at Antonio Azzuolo’s a.a. Spring/Summer presentation. With every collection, Azzuolo adds to a product category, and this season, the focus was on sweaters and shirts. “In terms of influences, I tried to cross boundaries,” said the menswear designer of his latest work. “Is it formal? Is it casual? Is it day? Is it evening?”

Nowhere was the dynamic between this black (tie) and white (tie) way of thinking seen more clearly than in the shawl-collared double breasted sweater, or the sleeveless cream dinner jacket. Removable collars and finely cut vests -– mainstays of Azzuolo’s collections –- were all in full form, while tailored jeans, a synthesis of the designer’s love for and experimentation with bleached denim processes, made an appearance this season.

And Azzuolo certainly didn’t shy away from color while pondering these questions of finery. Candy pink double breasted blazers, and sweaters in pamplemousse green and pâté orange, added vibrant punctuations to the formality of the proceedings.
