With Hedi Slimane's exit at Saint Laurent finally confirmed, the replacement -- announced this morning -- is Belgian designer and current Versus Versace creative director Anthony Vaccarello. His cut-to-there goddess gowns and sexy separates fly in the face of his Low Country forbears like Marginal and Demeulemeester and would be a no-brainer dove-tail to the rock 'n' roll glam that Slimane has brought to the house. Herewith some quick facts on the Belgian everyone's talking about:

-- He studied sculpture at La Cambre (L'École de la Cambre), the prestigious Belgian arts school in Brussels. Other attendees include designers Charles Anastase and Olivier Theyskens.

-- He spent two years designing furs with Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi.

-- His winning all-leather collection at the 2006 Hyères Festival was based on Italian pornstar Cicciolina (fellow Belgian Ann Demeulemeester was a judge).

-- His legs-for-days silhouettes are at their best on runway stompers like Karlie Kloss and Anja Rubik.

-- In 2011 he won France's ANDAM award, the French equivalent of the CFDA.

-- Though raised in Belgium his parents and family are Sicilian.

-- French Vogue EIC Emmanuelle Alt was an early champion and is a front-row stalwart who favors his dark, body-con looks in the pages of her magazine and in her own closet.

-- His first major American magazine cover was the March 2012 subscriber issue of Harper's Bazaar by Terry Richardson featuring a camera-shy Gwyneth.

-- He has been creative director of Versus Versace for the last year reigniting the glam labels diffusion line with its signature punky sex appeal while also pioneering the See-Now-Buy-Now model slowly gaining traction in high fashion.

-- Fellow past Hyères Festival winners Inez & Vinoodh shot his Fall 2015 campaign.
