Just one day after Scarlett Johansson called him out for his pseudo-alliance to the Time's Up movement, Disaster Artist-nominated James Franco showed face at the SAG Awards, however it was actress sister-in-law Alison Brie shouldered the burden of addressing the recent sexual misconduct allegations against the actor.
Speaking to E!'s Giuliana Rancic, Brie, who is married to the younger Franco and James' Disaster Artist co-star, Dave, reinforced the party line that the reports were inaccurate (something Franco maintained in his first response on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), but added survivors should still have the space to tell their story. She did not, however, address the claims made by multiple of Franco's accusers that he reached out to them to apologize in the lead-up to awards season.

"What we've always said is that it remains vital that anyone who feels victimized should and does have the right to speak out and come forward," the GLOW actress said. "I obviously support my family and not everything that's been reported is fully accurate, so I think we're waiting to get all the information. But, of course, now is a time for listening and that's what we're all trying to do."
Five actresses came forward to accuse Franco of a range of predatory behavior, including coerced fellatio and exploitative nudity, after the auteur accepted the award for Best Actor at the Golden Globes wearing a Time's Up pin. At the Women's March in Los Angeles, Scarlett Johansson, a vocal advocate for women's equality in Hollywood, asked him for that pin back. Iconic.
