Surviving for 10 years in the fashion biz is no small feat. Creating collection after collection of classic yet cutting edge clothes is a whole separate success, and both are cause for the high spirits and haute scenery at Zero + Maria Cornejo's anniversary party and showing.
The designer, along with a laundry list of loved ones, gathered for an inspired and inspiring exhibition which shows off pieces, photos and fabrics from her past, while an exceptional whirlwind of family (husband Mark Borthwick with irresistible offspring Bibi and Joey) and friends (among them Sue Stemp, Victoria Bartlett and adorable pair Leif and Tooya) had her enjoying the moment.
Even if she weren't a genuinely delightful woman, I would be a Zero fan (her line is impossible not to admire) but this little lady is so fun and thoughtful that it takes her operation to a new level of loveability. Chatting with Maria is like hanging out with your best friend's brilliant mom, your eccentric 8th grade art teacher and a gorgeous graceful guru rolled into one. If she didn't already have such a happy bustling brood, I would insist that she adopt me. Borrowing from Mom's closet might make me like her even more...
