As New York Fashion Week approaches, one thing I am very much looking forward to is the presentation by Commonwealth Utilities, a men's fashion line helmed by design duo Anthony Keegan and Richard Christiansen. Keegan, who designed for Donna Karan and Armani, and Christiansen, the founder of NYC-based creative agency Chandelier Creative, have created a line of clothing that guys are not afraid to wear. With a contemporary and sleek approach, the CU aesthetic is certainly bold, yet these are garments men not only WILL wear, they will WANT to wear as well.
Currently sold at international design meccas such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Fred Segal, Odin, and the incomparable Hollander and Lexer, as well as Matches in the UK, The New York Times recently deemed them one of "Five Designers to Watch This Season."
With the recent addition of New York Rangers Sean Avery to the Commonwealth team -- he'll be helping out on both the design side and the marketing side -- and the buzz surrounding their top-secret presentation taking place at an undisclosed location during MBFW, the Commonwealth Utilities show will be quite the scene. To whet your palate, check out some the looks from the upcoming show, pictured above.
