A Plethora of Polaroids in Hollywood

Jake Stavis

It seems like everyone loves the nitty-gritty rawness of the ever-endangered Polaroid print. Perhaps it’s their semi-faded colors or the instant gratification factor (provided one disregards André 3000’s famously inaccurate advice); regardless, there’s something undeniably appealing about those little square images exploited by the most fragile models and ruthless party photographers of our time. Gallery Space at Space 15 Twenty in Los Angeles has realized this particular fixation with their upcoming exhibition Everything is Possible: A Polaroid Group Show (August 21 – September 13). The show, which was curated in conjunction with the release of special edition Polaroid film and camera kits, explores the virtually endless possibilities of this unique medium, and includes a wide variety of photographers such as Ali Bosworth, Nicole Lesser, Mordechai S. Rubstein, Pete Voelker, and Cass Bird (who has shot past covers for Paper).

Opening reception with special guest DJ’s August 21, 7-9 PM at Gallery Space, 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd
, Los Angeles, CA 90028. Gallery open Wed. – Fri. 1 – 9 PM, Sat. – Sun. 12 – 8 PM.
