Patti Astor is one of the the under acknowledged provocateurs responsible for nurturing and supporting perhaps the most significant art movement of the last 25 years, namely hip hop. She started Fun Gallery and starred in Charlie Ahearn's cult movie Wild Style, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Central Park this Sunday with a big free party starting at 7 pm. We hear that Patti will be flying in from Los Angeles, where she has been living, to make an appearance with Fab 5 Freddy, The Chief Rocker Busy Bee, The Cold Crush Brothers, Grandmaster Caz, DJ GrandWizzard Theodore and many other surprise guests. We're happy to report there's now a trailer that captures the crazy spirit of the times and, more specifically, of Patti herself.
Based on her book Fun!, Astor has been working on a documentary that chronicles her mad cap years, and now we have a nice, long trailer to look at as well.
