Two's a Trend: "Steal My Sunshine" by Len Is Back
For those unfamiliar with our regular-ish "Two's a Trend" blog series, here's how it works: When we spot something that has happened twice, we like to get on the bandwagon early and call it a trend. (Like we recently did here.)
Today we're going to go ahead and declare that the classic 1999 jam "Steal My Sunshine" by the band Len is back and having a renaissance. "What the...?" you might ask. To which we say, "check it." First, the most recent episode of Parks and Recreation found Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) listening to the song by the Toronto-based one-hit-wonders while frantically worrying that she herself may be a one-hit-wonder (following the huge success of the parks department's Harvest Festival). Then, today, while perusing the most-played songs on Hype Machine, we stumbled upon a new track by DJ duo The White Panda called "Steal Eastwood," a mash-up of Gorillaz' "Clint Eastwood" and "Steal My Sunshine."
So there you have it! Don't be surprised if Len are announced as a last minute addition to the Coachella lineup or if you notice more of your friends spelling out the word "later." (To get that last bit of our joke, re-listen to the song here.)
