Boy, this winter is relentless. But as any good fashion plate -- or fashion victim -- worth her salt knows, snow and sleet and wind are just part of the sartorial challenge during New York Fashion Week. This season we're seeing lots of well-dressed ladies and gents strike a balance between fashion and function with the help of some super-sized scarves. No longer simply worn for warmth or pointless accessorizing fluff, these voluminous wraps come in extra-long tangerine-tinged faux fur (Susie Bubble, above), blanket-sized plaids for layering outside moto jackets (above) or pretty patterns to wrap babushka-style for extra coverage (Miroslava Duma, below). Designers are feeling the need to fend off the chill, too: models were seen swathed in oversized wraps on the Prabal Gurung, Tibi and Edun runways. The message is...it's cool to be cozy. Now, can we just crawl into the one from Baja East, the buzzy new label known for 'loose luxury,' lie down on the fuzzy-faced fur by Hyein Seo for VFiles and sleep 'til spring?
