Trailer Trash: Cannes Edition

Gary Pini

Welcome to Trailer Trash, highlighting the best, worst and so-so in new movie trailers.

For today's edition of Trailer Trash we've got a triple-play, featuring films from the annual Cannes Film Festival that ended on Sunday. The last one embedded below, Amour, was the winner of this year's Palm d'Or prize for best film and is by the German director Michael Haneke and stars Isabelle Huppert. The second clip, The Angels' Share, won the Jury Prize. It was directed by Ken Loach (Sweet Sixteen, My Name Is Joe) and it's a comedy about a young wanna-be criminal in Glasgow that's trying to reform. But first, here's the trailer for the film version of Jack Kerouac's On the Road directed by Walter Salles and starring Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund -- it was nominated, but didn't win any prizes at Cannes. Also, a film we previewed recently called Beasts of the Southern Wild, won the prize for Best Debut Film.
