The Standard Hotel was the place to be last night, what with both the now-annual Standard v. Milk hockey match and, later, Olivier Zahm's famous Purple Party at the Boom Boom Room. Arriving nice and early around 9 o'clock, we tucked into a crepe, ordered a spiked hot chocolate and watched a bunch of hot and surprisingly athletic (these are 'fashion people,' after all) guys -- and a kick-ass girl -- try to check each other and skate around. The whole thing felt vaguely fratty (right down to the "69s" on the backs of the jerseys for team 'One Night Standard') but, actually, we kinda liked that. We gave props to Milk Studios owner Mazdack Rassi for lacing up and tending goal (though where was André Balazs?) but it was to no avail: Standard handily won two out of the three games. One of the big highlights by far was a half-time show by Maluca (featured in PAPER's Summer Music Issue, don't ya know) who whipped her hair back-and-forth and got the crowd in a frenzy. Cool (and semi-enigmatic) 'creative industry-meets-DJs-meets-designers' #Been#Trill provided the soundtrack for the game, which was largely comprised of 2 Chainz tracks.

With sufficient hot toddies in our systems, we steeled ourselves for the Purple party and headed up to the Boom Boom Room. The line outside the door was particularly foreboding but, thanks to a new friend, we managed to go through the bowels of the Standard and in through the back. Once inside, the party lived up to its rep: the people watching was a bigger feast for the eyes than Thanksgiving. We spotted Justin Theroux (sans Jennifer Aniston), Lake Bell and her fiance, tattoo artist Scott Campbell, Chloe Sevigny, Kim Gordon, Ellen von Unwerth, Solange Knowles, Olivier Theyskens, Ciara, Andre Saraiva, models Karolina Kurkova, Carol Alt (Carol Alt!), Lily Donaldson, and the other usual socialite and fashion folk suspects. Biggest highlight of the night? Spying Kim Gordon and Gang Gang Dance's Lizzi Bougatsos swing dancing. Check out photos of the night below.
