Like many people who were lucky to know the late, great performance artist, playwright and downtown theater pioneer Tom Murrin, we were heartbroken when he passed away in March. Tom was a lovely, generous and just deeply kind person who wrote regularly for Paper and Papermag over the years, using our publication to support and champion the work of his peers in New York's experimental theater scene. He was beloved by his Paper family (and basically everyone he met) and we really miss him.
This Sunday, June 3rd, Tom's wife Patricia Sullivan is hosting an afternoon of words, images, and performances honoring Tom and his remarkable life from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at La Mama's Ellen Stewart Theater (66-68 East 4th St.) with a reception to follow. We'll be there to celebrate Tom and his amazing work as his alter egos the Alien Comic and Jack Bump, and we hope you will be too.
