The TSA must have gotten an eyeful of designer separates last weekend as half of New York's fashion elite migrated from the city to Chicago. No, the couture shows haven't moved to the Windy City, the occasion was to mark the 10th anniversary of legendary retailers Ikram and Josh Goldman's much-loved couture boutique. The festivities began on Thursday when Ikram was presented the Legend of Fashion Award by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The award was presented by T Magazine's Sally Singer and the front row included Jason Wu, Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy, J. Crew's Jenna Lyons, Prova designer Irini Arakas, Nina Ricci designer Peter Copping and Paper's own Kim Hastreiter.
Between Thursday night's awards presentation and Saturday's night's gala anniversary blow-out, guests were treated to a series of teas, dinners and cocktail parties in some of Chicago's finest and most fabulous homes. Melody Hobson and film legend George Lucas hosted a lunch for the Goldmans. Desiree Rogers hosted a dinner followed by dessert in the art-filled home of Larry and Marilyn Fields. Additionally, Mr. Goldman's parents hosted a tea in their old-masters-drawing-filled apartment.
The main event was the Saturday night anniversary shindig which drew a cavalcade of designers including Prabal Gurung, Tabitha Simmons, Erin Beatty and Max Osterweiss of Suno, Flora Gill and Alexa Adams of Ohne Titel, Duro Olowu, Peter Pilotto and Narciso Rodriguez. Performance artist and School of the Art Institute fashion department faculty member Nick Cave did a wild performance. Swedish folk-pop band First Aid Kit and magician Bob Higa also performed. Higa's on-stage assistants included Lucas, Arakas and Vogue's Mark Holgate and Mr. Mickey. It was a three-day hootenanny! Check out my photos above of all of the fun.
