"For Tea with Alice, I wanted to combine some of the cultural tropes that come from my childhood growing up in a tiny Chinese town in the middle of nowhere. After moving away, I lived in Japan for a bit and, later, did a Buddhism/history research program with Harvard. In America, I integrated my Harajuku-influenced style -- a combination of dressing in bright colors and exuding a bubbly demeanor -- into my every day look, and, after moving to New York, have decided to pursue a career in fashion industry. I want this video series to serve as a reflection of my roots -- a combination of Chinese tradition and theatric Harajuku -- filtered through a Western lens, as I interview people from the style world in NYC."
