A tick bite at age 7 changed Ally Hilfiger's life. Suffering from symptoms like constant pain and recurrent flus, she tried to manage her illness with self medicating with pot and alcohol, but unsuccessfully. She was lost, until a doctor explained that these symptoms weren't just recurring illness, but Lyme disease.
She then positioned herself as a Lyme disease advocate and successfully transitioned from a victim to a survivor. It was not easy, and all the crazy stories are in her newest memoir, Bite Me: How Lyme Disease Stole My Childhood, Made Me Crazy, and Almost Killed Me. Over cupcakes from Maman, Ally and Alice talk about her book and her struggle with and triumph over Lyme disease.
