The Friday night opening of Anthony Lister's exhibit, How to Catch a Time Traveler, at Chelsea  gallery Lyons Wier, was quite the lively event. At first glace, we didn't recognize the man of the night, who was sporting a perfectly groomed handle bar mustache, a trippy pair of hologram shades, and a face adorned with red lipstick kiss marks.

When first entering the gallery, visitors were greeted by a Supergirl mannequin tied up by her feet, hanging from the ceiling and wrapped with duct tape; evoking a night of bondage gone bad.  Around the corner sat a very vulnerable Wonder Woman, also bound in duct tape, that was juxtaposed with the piece "Terms of Engagement."

Lister's signature playful style was still evident, but an unmistakably more mature vibe was prevalent. The superheroes that Lister used to portray as pop culture gods and goddess are now depicted with the instinctive sexual desires of youth.

The exhibit runs through April 19.
