The Brooklyn Museum's third annual Brooklyn Artists Ball fundraising gala took place last night, an epic six-hour bash with over 1400 guests. The dinner portion of the evening, in the museum's Beaux-Arts Court, featured sixteen 40-foot long artist-conceived dining tables (artists included FAILE, Jennifer Catron and Paul Outlaw, Joey Frank, Njideka Akunyili, Daniel Arsham, Jules de Balincourt, Jacob Hashimoto, Steven and William Ladd, Emily Noelle Lambert, Fernando Mastrangelo, Navin June Norling, José Parlá, Analia Segal, Alison Elizabeth Taylor, Max Toth, and Lan Tuazon). During dinner, the Asher B. Durand Awards for "outstanding artists working in Brooklyn today" were announced for Vik Muniz, Wangechi Mutu, and Roxy Paine, and Brooklyn borough Pres Marty Markowitz stopped by to give his two cents. We wonder what Marty thought of Go! Push Pops, the scantily clad tumblr collective performing dance moves from a 2002 Luis Gispert video near the elevators. The evening concluded with a bonkers AndrewAndrew-helmed afterparty in the dreamy glass pavilion amid a Gispert installation, where Go! Push Pops returned for an encore performance, rolling around topless in piles of glitter on the dancefloor. Pics of all the fun, below.
