Last night, Belgian-Italian designer Anthony Vaccarello presented his debut Versus Versace collection to a crowd that included Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Hudson (to name drop but a few). As soon as the final model clopped down the runway, the crowd ascended up to a higher level at the Metropolitan West building to the after-party. The event space had bright red risers for guests to perch and little candy carts filled with lollipops, chocolate cigars and pastilles stamped with the label's iconic Medusa logo, which gave us major "Versace bar mitzvah" vibes (not that we're complaining). By the time we arrived close to 9:15pm, the night's big performance -- St. Vincent -- had already taken the stage, playing songs off her latest self-titled album. We noticed that Donatella ducked out shortly after St. Vincent's set was over but that didn't damper the festive mood -- there were enough models to fill a Carnival cruise and guests like Skrillex, Miguel, Rachel Zoe, Ellen von Unwerth and more every which way you looked. It was a little jarring leaving Versaceland and walking out straight into Hell's Kitchen (the venue was on 46th St & the West Side Hwy) but, for those with enough stamina, the Opening Ceremony party was down the block. Is Midtown West the new Meatpacking?
